It has been a crazy week. I confessed to another teacher that I thought I was losing my mind. The school's art show that I assumed was next week was actually this week. I guess it wouldn't hurt to check the school calendar every now and then. Good thing that I at least had some parts organized. My son's high school registration required a battery of applications that I knew nothing about and they had a deadline. My children's school had their open house this week and I was unveiling my ideas for my fundraising mural. Yikes.
I was behind the eight ball, flustered and even slightly giddy at times. I wanted the week to end.
And it did.
The art show was lovely. Energetic bursts of color exploded from Mountain View School's multi-purpose room. Parents, students and teachers loved it. I sat down before the show on Thursday and selected my favorite twenty five pieces that will move onto the district show. For each piece, I wrote out a few sentences explaining why I picked that particular piece. As I wrote what I hoped to be encouraging words, I was filled with gratitude. Imagine being able to provide children with the opportunity to be expressive and creative? It puts everything into perspective.
My son confessed to me that his whole life has been building towards this moment. Becoming an engineer. I'm not worried that his application or interview or grades or course selection will be enough. He is enough and he is fabulous.
Critiques are due for my fabulous writing group and I haven't gotten to them yet. Today. Yes, today will be my day. I plan to sit at my computer all day--no all weekend!-- and write, critique and brainstorm.
But first, I just had to catch up on my blogging fix!
My blogging friend, Kim, tagged me. Actually, I think she said "meme." Not sure what it meant, but after visiting her blog, I decided that it would be fun.
OK, here we go:

Rules for the game:
1. Put these rules at the beginning of your post.
2. Then answer each question (see below) in your post.
3. Tag five people at the end, then post a comment on each of their blogs letting them know you've tagged them, and ask them to check your blog for details.

ReplyDeleteThanks for thinking of me, Patty! I'm not a big meme person on my blog, but it's nice to be included. I'll definitely be visiting your blog again. And for now I'll give you five places I have lived: Boston (Lexington and Chestnut Hill), Austin, Houston, Durham N.C., and San Jose. I think you're very fortunate to be in Goleta - it is so beautiful there!
ReplyDeleteNo problem, Jen! At least you knew what a "meme" was. I didn't.
ReplyDeleteYou've lived in some great places! Thanks for sharing.
Cute meme! I remember you sharing your story in Val's class about picking strawberries. Congrats on handling this crazy week well, and congrats on such a wonderful art show too:) Glad you took a day for yourself and your writing too.
