Busy Days

Any other year, this week would have been reserved as a writing week. It's a "half-day" week at the schools where I teach (parent-teacher conferences). This gives the specialists a mini vacation. But instead of writing away, I accepted an offer to teach art classes at my son and daughter's elementary school. It's been so fun! I took a ton of pictures and plan on uploading them onto my art blog Deep Space Sparkle ... after I get home from Las Vegas...

...so that's another thing. My husband and I are flying to Vegas on Friday to celebrate my friends 40th. We'll be attending a cocktail party at The Bellagio then we'll slip in to see Cirque du Soliel's "O". So much fun I can hardly stand it. I even bought a swanky pair of shoes to wear! Cute, huh?
My writing pal, Laura, is making a stop in Santa Barbara tomorrow. We go to many of the SCBWI workshops together and love the time we get to chat up books and writing. Laura is also a coordinator for the SCBWI Santa Barbara/Ventura chapter. Cool, busy gal!

Tomorrow I'll be making my first submission to my new online critique group. I've never participated in a critique online but can't wait to jump in. I've been reading some of my new critique partners websites and blogs. They all sound like amazing folks. I feel very lucky to be a part of this group! Thanks guys!

It feels like March is off to a rocky writing start...I wanted to have 25K words of my new novel finished. I only have 15K. But the month is not over yet, is it? Looking forward to a spring break...two weeks of solid writing. No trips, shoes, art classes. Just me and my characters.
